At last! Spring is here in Madison!
We began our gardening for 2010 today! Last year we planted spinach, garlic, and shallots prior to winter beginning. We covered them all with compost and mulch to protect it against the harsh elements of winter and today we went and uncovered our plants to see if they survived! Take a peek at our spinach (the first rain or watering will wash off the dirt on the leaves)! We should be eating spinach salad as early as next week!
How exciting! I'm just ready to get my seeds for basil and tomatoes into pots (I am, sadly, still a container gardener, one of the prices I pay for the location of my little near east apartment).
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of your spinach, though! It maybe is supposed to snow next week -- I checked because I want to get my bike out ASAP -- but who knows. Either way, I hope everything makes it. :-)
