Accidental Focaccia

So, I mentioned previously how my next venture was to make Ciabatta bread...well, I tried and it didn't quite turn out as I had planned...instead I got what resembles Foccica.  Eric kept telling me that it was fine, and it would rise in the oven, but he had gotten ciabatta and focaccia mixed up in his brain, and upon realizing his mix up, agreed my attempt produced a bread (which is good), but rather than ciabatta, we got focaccia.

The flattest bread you ever did see...it didn't rise well, it could have been the fact that our apartment was rather cool that day...though I am convinced it needed more yeast and less liquid...

I must say though, it made some GREAT dipping bread for olive oil, salt, garlic, and pepper!!

  3. Paige - That's the other frustrating part! It was totally NOT easy! You make a sponge, a first rise, add stuff to the sponge, a second rise, cover and refrigerate over night for the third rise, take out, separate, and let rise a fourth time. The dough was too wet and sticky, and our apartment too cold for any productive rise, which is how I ended up with pancake-like ciabatta aka focaccia. I'm going to try again though...and if it works I'm totally sharing the recipe!
